Twilight

When I first recieved the book, I read the back and I was a little disappointed. I didn't think I was going to like it at all. To my surprise, I finished the book in a day and a half. i couldn't put the book down at all. I read it every few minute of the day I had. I had to find out what was going to happen next. The anticipation was killing me. I absolutely loved the book and plan to go buy New Moon (the second book), because I want to see what happens in the end.

Twilight

Hey everyone! I previously read Twilight and I think that it is an AMAZING book! Despite the fictional aspect of the book (Edward being a vampire) I felt that it captured a very real aspect of life, love. I also read the sequal, New Moon, and I would definately recommend it to anyone who liked Twilight. I really enjoyed this book, and I hope you all did too!

Twilight

Hey guys. Sorry that I havent been to the meeting lately. Key club has been getting in the way of things. I already read Twilight and I would just like to say that I think it is an amazing book. There is also a sequal to it called New Moon. If you enjoyed the book as much as I did, you should check the sequal out too. There is a third one coming out also. I don't know exactly when though.
I thought that the themes and the storyline in Twilight were very cool and really captivated the reader's mind and attention. The book is somewhat girly, and if guys didn't like it, I guess I could understand why. I enjoyed it and I hope that you all enjoy it too!!

LB discuss

I don't think the way heaven is portrayed is what real heaven is but then again I've never been so I cannot say it's wrong lol Susie learns everything she didn't know on earth in heaven basically. Sexuality so important to Susie, even after death probably because of self esteem and social issues and the way people viewed her when she was alive.

Interestong background info on the author!!

As for Twilight, I have to start reading that.

Our discussion of Lovely Bones...

Thought I would outline the questions we touched upon at our last meeting (also our liveliest of discussions to date!), in case anyone wants to comment...
1. What do you think about the way heaven is portrayed?
2. What does Susie learn in her heaven?
3. What happens to Susie's parents to drive them so far apart?
4. Why does Ruth become a major character?
5. Why is sexuality so important to Susie, even after death?
6. What are the 'lovely bones' of the novel?
7. Why is it not important that Mr. Harvey be caught?

We also talked a little about the author's life...thought it was interesting that she grew up outside of Philadelphia, was raped her freshmen year at Syracuse, and is a recovering heroin and alcohol addict. And still she has managed to fulfill some of her dreams!

My Sister's Keeper

I can see how many think Anna's death is ironic at the end but as a writer, I saw all the different end scenarios when I first started the book and laughed at the thought of Anna dying rather than Kate and then when it happened I said to myself, right on the money. Everything that happened lined right up to the ending in a way so it was not surprising.
